The First Station- Jesus is condemned to death.

Symbol- A Wash Bowl

Jesus is condemned to death and Pilate washes His hands. Pilate did not want to be guilty of sentencing Jesus to death so he washed his hands as a sign to show that he was not going to be a part of condemning Jesus.

Jesus was accused of many crimes He didn’t commit. He didn’t defend himself. He knew He needed to die for our sins. Jesus stood before angry people who are yelling and saying mean, hurtful things to Him. They scream at Him. Some of them tell lies about Him, saying that He did bad things.

What did Jesus do?

He stood so silent, even though he knows that he will be hurt. He knows that God is with him. He even asks God to help him forgive the people who are yelling and telling lies about him. He knew the Father's love and He knew the Father's will.

Let’s Look at our hearts

Has anyone said mean or hurtful things to or about you? How did you feel? Afraid? Hurt? Angry?

Picture Jesus at your side. Offer Jesus all your feelings, the hurt, the pain, the anger. See Jesus embracing and loving you for giving him the feelings in your heart. Ask Jesus to make your heart more like His. Pray and ask Him to always remind you that He is with you always.

V.We adore Thee, O Christ, and we praise Thee.

R. Because by Thy holy cross Thou hast redeemed the world.

Prayer

Jesus, I often get defensive when I know I did something wrong. Help me be honest. I also don’t want to be a tattletale or accuse others of doing wrong.

Amen.
