Good Shepherd Sunday

Today we celebrate Good Shepherd Sunday. Jesus is the Good Shepherd, we are His children and He takes care of us. In the picture of the Good Shepherd, Jesus is holding a staff, a long stick used to help control the flock. We see sheep around Him and He is holding a lamb in His arms. Each one of us is like the lamb He is holding, we are precious to Him.

A shepherd knows each one of his flock of sheep, if one is missing he goes out and searches for it until he finds it. That one sheep is so important that he wants to find it and bring it back to the flock.

Jesus is like that shepherd, He is the Good Shepherd. Each one of us is so precious to Him, He knows each of us by name, and He even knows how many strands of hair we have on our heads! Isn’t that amazing!

We should place ALL our trust in God, He only wants what is best for us. Even when we stray away from Him, He searches for us, calling us by name. Psalm 23 tells us so beautifully about The Good Shepherd and how He protects and loves us.

Let us place ALL our trust in our Lord knowing that He is our Good Shepherd.
