The Birth of Jesus is Foretold
"Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Emmanuel. For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever." Isaiah 9: 6,7
A long, long, time before Jesus was born, the Lord told a man named Isaiah that a future king was coming. The Lord told Isaiah that a virgin would conceive this child and that He would be called, "The Mighty God." God also told Isaiah that this coming king's kingdom would have NO end.
The people eagerly awaited the birth of the promised one, the Messiah. They expected him to be a great king and powerful warrior. God however had a different plan. The Messiah would be born poor and simple and would conquer evil not with armies but with the greatness of His LOVE.
